50 Years The Flinstones Yabba Dabba Do: The Human Powered Car

30 september 2010: De Flintstones vieren vandaag hun vijftigste verjaardag. Vandaag is het precies vijftig jaar geleden dat de tekenfilmserie voor het eerst op de Amerikaanse tv te zien was.
De nog altijd populaire tekenfilmserie werd in de jaren zestig gemaakt door de Amerikaanse tekenfilmstudio Hanna-Barbera. Het merendeel van de karakters werd bedacht door de bij deze studio werkzame Ed Benedict (1912-2006).
Van 1960 tot 1966 werd de serie uitgezonden door de Amerikaanse Flintstones Google Doodle zender ABC. In Nederland zonden onder meer de NTS, KRO en RTL4 de serie uit. De animatieserie speelt zich af in het Stenen Tijdperk.
De hoofdpersonen Fred en Wilma wonen in een plaatsje genaamd Bedrock en in plaats van een hond heeft het stel een dinosaurus als huisdier. De buren van de familie, Barney en Betty Rubble, zijn bijna even populair geworden als de hoofdbewoners van Bedrock. Bron: Historiek
13-01-2008: De Flinstones, wie kent ze niet uit de gelijknamige stripboeken, televisie-series en de films. Geweldig om naar te kijken zeker als het gezin Flinstone uit Bedrock met vader Fred, moeder Wilma en hun dochter Pebbles op pad gingen in hun met menskracht aangedreven voertuig.
Zoevend van de ene naar de andere plek in Bedrock. Later natuurlijk nagemaakt als de bekende trap-auto, maar nu in een geheel nieuw jasje als een moderne Flinstones car.
Vanaf Earth Day verkrijgbaar onder de naam HumanCar, de human-powered car met een topsnelheid van 80 km/uur.
Een ZERO-emission voertuig, dat overigens niet echt goedkoop is met een aangegeven adviesprijs van $ 15.000,-. Bron: Ecoble

Human Power Charge 4×4 electric Vehicle (Ultimate Eco Car)
Our name is ZEVEX (Zero Emission Vehicle EXpedition). We are an NGO that is concerned about climate change and we strive to protect the environment. We were established in 1999 in Kyoto prefecture, Japan. In 2009, we developed THE ultimate eco 4×4 vehicle. This vehicle can be charged by human power! While it can of course be charged from a conventional wall outlet, by attaching bicycle pedals to the primary transfer unit we have created a regeneration system which uses human energy (power) to generate electricity!

Yabba Dabba Doo! Flintstones Expo In Museum Van De 20ste Eeuw In Hoorn
Het Museum van de 20e Eeuw eert de leukste familie van holbewoners aller tijden met een tentoonstelling. De Flinstones Expo is te zien tot en met 3 maart 2019.
Behalve veel prachtige originele Flintstones memorabilia is er veel te doen voor jong en oud. Ga in de auto van de Flintstones zitten, speel een potje prehistorisch kegelen, zie de oer-uitvindingen en de Flintstones drive-in bioscoop.

Canyon Unveils Revolutionary Pedal-powered Vehicle
According to the brand, the design offers “a revolutionary alternative to both the automobile and the bicycle” by sheltering the driver from the elements and offering increased storage space when compared to a bike while cutting down on emissions and time spent in traffic.
The vehicle’s stocky, chrome shell resembles that of Tesla’s infamous Cybertruck but underneath it is essentially a recumbent e-bike, in which the driver sits slightly reclined while pedalling. Manoeuvring the vehicle is performed using two under-seat joysticks.
As major cities across the world are starting to re-prioritise cyclists over cars in their urban planning due to the coronavirus pandemic, Canyon hopes its concept can fast-track this process by “re-imagining how bicycle technology can reclaim space on the streets”.
The vehicle has two different speed modes, allowing it to travel up to 25 kilometres per hour on a cycle path and up to 60 on regular roads with the help of a 2000 watt-hour battery.
At just over two metres long and 83 centimetres wide, the vehicle remains agile enough to weave through traffic, while offering space behind the driver for luggage, groceries or a child of up to 11 years old.
